Descripción

The DRAM project seeks to identify the transfer of risk between air traffic control, pilots, ground handling personnel, passengers and eVTOL aircraft. The objective is to show how eVTOL aircraft may need different risk-management strategies when compared to helicopters. It is intended to do this by reviewing prior work, carrying out experimental helicopter flight tests and using advanced digital modelling to transfer the helicopter test data into eVTOL scenarios. Issues such as aerodynamic effects, control strategies and pilot task saturation will be the focus. The outcomes will be a clear understanding of the risks of eVTOL flight and vertiport operations, and guidance material to mitigate these risks.
